Prepatellar Bursitis

Definition

Prepatellar bursitis, also known as housemaid's knee, is a condition characterized by inflammation of the prepatellar bursa, a small fluid-filled sac located in front of the kneecap (patella). It can result from various causes, including repetitive kneeling, direct trauma to the knee, or underlying medical conditions such as gout or rheumatoid arthritis.
