Pneumatic Retinopexy
Definition
Pneumatic retinopexy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat retinal detachment, a condition where the retina separates from the underlying supportive tissue. The procedure involves injecting a gas bubble into the vitreous cavity of the eye, which helps to reposition the detached retina against the back wall of the eye. This is followed by laser or cryotherapy to seal the retinal tears and reattach the retina.
