Peripheral Artery Bypass

Definition

Peripheral artery bypass is a surgical procedure performed to restore blood flow to the limbs by rerouting blood around a blocked or narrowed artery. This procedure is typically done to treat peripheral artery disease (PAD), which occurs when plaque buildup in the arteries reduces blood flow to the extremities, causing pain and increasing the risk of tissue damage or limb loss.
