Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT)

Definition

Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) is a targeted treatment method that uses radiolabeled peptides to selectively bind to specific receptors on the surface of cancer cells. This allows the delivery of a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. PRRT is primarily used for the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) that express somatostatin receptors.
