A patella fracture is a break or crack in the patella, also known as the kneecap, which is a small, triangular bone that protects and covers the front of the knee joint. Patella fractures can result from direct trauma, such as a fall or impact, or indirect forces, such as a sudden contraction of the quadriceps muscle.
