Definition

Osteonecrosis, also known as avascular necrosis, is a medical condition characterized by the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply. This can lead to the collapse of the affected bone and cause pain, limited range of motion, and joint dysfunction. Commonly affected areas include the hip, knee, shoulder, and ankle joints.
