Mini-Maze Procedure

Definition

The mini-maze procedure is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to treat atrial fibrillation, a heart rhythm disorder. It involves creating a series of small incisions in the heart's atria to create scar tissue, which disrupts the abnormal electrical signals causing atrial fibrillation. The procedure may also involve the removal or isolation of the left atrial appendage to reduce the risk of stroke.
