Kaposi sarcoma is a rare type of cancer characterized by the development of abnormal growths or lesions in the skin, mucous membranes, lymph nodes, and internal organs. It is caused by the human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) and often affects individuals with weakened immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS.
