Definition
Juvenile ankylosing spondylitis (JAS) is a chronic inflammatory condition that primarily affects the spine and sacroiliac joints in children and adolescents. It is characterized by pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility in the affected areas, and may also involve other joints, tendons, and ligaments. JAS is a subtype of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and is related to adult ankylosing spondylitis.
