Inverted papilloma is a benign growth originating from the mucosal lining of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. It is characterized by its unique tendency to grow inwards, causing potential damage to surrounding structures. Although generally noncancerous, inverted papillomas have a small risk of transforming into malignant tumors.
