Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE)

Definition

Intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) is a diagnostic procedure that involves the use of an ultrasound probe placed inside the heart to obtain high-resolution images of the heart's structures and function. This minimally invasive technique allows for real-time visualization of cardiac anatomy, assessment of blood flow, and guidance during interventional procedures.
