Hunter Syndrome, Mucopolysaccharidosis Type II

Definition

Hunter syndrome, also known as mucopolysaccharidosis type II, is a rare genetic disorder caused by a deficiency of the enzyme iduronate-2-sulfatase. This deficiency leads to the accumulation of complex carbohydrates called glycosaminoglycans in the body's cells, causing progressive damage to various organs and tissues.
