Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP)

Definition

Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses a high-powered holmium laser to remove excess prostate tissue, thereby relieving urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The procedure involves inserting a resectoscope through the urethra and using the laser to enucleate and remove obstructing prostate tissue.
