Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)
Definition
Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a kidney disorder characterized by scarring of the glomeruli, the tiny filtering units within the kidneys. This scarring impairs the kidneys' ability to filter waste and excess fluids from the blood, potentially leading to kidney failure. FSGS can be caused by various factors, including genetic mutations, viral infections, or as a secondary condition to other diseases.
