Endoscopic Mucosal Resection

Definition

Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) is a minimally invasive procedure used to remove abnormal or cancerous tissue from the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. It involves the use of an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera, which is inserted through the mouth or anus to access the affected area. The abnormal tissue is then removed using specialized tools.
