Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS)
Definition
Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a non-invasive breast cancer characterized by the presence of abnormal cells within the milk ducts of the breast. It is considered a precancerous condition, as the abnormal cells have not yet spread beyond the ducts into surrounding breast tissue. Early detection and treatment can help prevent the progression to invasive breast cancer.
