Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma

Definition

Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) is a rare, aggressive brain tumor that arises in the pons, a part of the brainstem responsible for critical bodily functions. DIPG primarily affects children and is characterized by rapid progression, leading to severe neurological impairments and a poor prognosis.
