Dengue fever is a viral illness transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, characterized by sudden onset of high fever, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, and rash. It can progress to a more severe form known as dengue hemorrhagic fever, which may lead to shock and potentially fatal complications.
