Cholesteatoma is a noncancerous growth that develops in the middle ear, typically as a result of chronic ear infections or Eustachian tube dysfunction. The growth consists of skin cells and debris, which can accumulate and cause damage to the surrounding structures, potentially leading to hearing loss, vertigo, and facial nerve paralysis.
