Cervical Insufficiency, Cervical Incompetence

Definition

Cervical insufficiency, also known as cervical incompetence, is a condition in which the cervix weakens or shortens prematurely during pregnancy, leading to an increased risk of preterm birth or miscarriage. This weakening may be due to various factors, such as previous cervical surgery, trauma, or congenital abnormalities.
