Capsule Endoscopy

Definition

Capsule endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure that involves the use of a small, pill-sized camera to capture images of the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the small intestine. The patient swallows the capsule, which then travels through the digestive system, transmitting images to a recording device worn by the patient. This procedure is useful for diagnosing conditions such as Crohn's disease, celiac disease, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
