Atonic Epilepsy

Definition

Atonic epilepsy, also known as drop attack seizures, is a type of epilepsy characterized by a sudden loss of muscle tone, causing the individual to collapse or fall. These seizures typically last for a few seconds and can result in injuries due to the sudden falls. Atonic epilepsy is often associated with other seizure types and can be caused by various factors, including genetic predisposition, brain injury, or an underlying neurological disorder.
