Arthrogryposis, Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita
Definition
Arthrogryposis, also known as arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, is a rare congenital condition at birth characterized by permanent tightening of the muscles, skin, and tendons that make joints short and stiff. It also causes underdeveloped muscles. It results from reduced fetal movement during development, which can be caused by various factors, including genetic mutations, maternal illness, or limited space in the uterus.
