Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) Embolization

Definition

Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal connection between arteries and veins, bypassing the capillary system. This vascular anomaly can occur in various parts of the body, but it is most commonly found in the brain or spine. AVMs can cause bleeding, reduced oxygen delivery to tissues, and increased pressure on surrounding structures, potentially leading to serious complications.
