Anticoagulation During Pregnancy
Definition
Anti-glomerular basement membrane disease, also known as Anti-GBM disease or Goodpasture syndrome, is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by the production of antibodies that destroy healthy tissue in the filtering units of the kidneys and, in some cases, the tiny air sacs in the lungs. This leads to inflammation and damage to these structures, resulting in kidney failure and potentially life-threatening lung hemorrhage.
