Ankylosing Spondylitis

Definition

Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory condition that primarily affects the spine, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Over time, the vertebrae may fuse together, leading to a rigid and inflexible spine. The exact cause of ankylosing spondylitis is unknown, but genetic factors are believed to play a role.
