Vertebral Column Resection

Definition

Vertebral column resection is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of one or more vertebrae from the spinal column to correct spinal deformities, relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerves, or treat certain spinal conditions. The procedure may involve anterior, posterior, or combined approaches and often includes the use of instrumentation and bone grafts to stabilize and reconstruct the spine.
