Ventilation/Perfusion (V/Q) Scan

Definition

A ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) scan is a diagnostic procedure that uses nuclear medicine imaging to evaluate the airflow (ventilation) and blood flow (perfusion) in the lungs. The purpose of this test is to identify any abnormalities or blockages in the lungs' airways and blood vessels, which can help diagnose conditions such as pulmonary embolism or other lung disorders.
