Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome

Definition

Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a rare, prenatal condition that occurs in identical twin pregnancies when there is an imbalance in the blood flow between the twins through their shared placenta. This can lead to one twin receiving too much blood, causing strain on their heart and circulatory system, while the other twin receives too little blood, resulting in inadequate growth and development.
