Truncus Arteriosus

Definition

Truncus arteriosus is a rare congenital heart defect characterized by the presence of a single large blood vessel, instead of the normal two separate vessels, arising from the heart. This single vessel carries blood from both the left and right ventricles and supplies it to the lungs, body, and coronary arteries. The condition results in inadequate oxygenation of the body and can lead to various complications if not treated.
