Tinea cruris, commonly known as jock itch or ringworm of the groin, is a fungal infection that affects the skin of the groin area, inner thighs, and buttocks. It is caused by a group of fungi called dermatophytes, which thrive in warm, moist environments and can spread through direct skin-to-skin contact or contaminated surfaces.
