Spontaneous pneumothorax is a condition characterized by the sudden onset of air leakage from the lung into the pleural space, causing the lung to partially or fully collapse. It can occur without any apparent cause or underlying lung disease (primary spontaneous pneumothorax) or as a result of pre-existing lung conditions (secondary spontaneous pneumothorax).
