Spinal Neurofibromas

Definition

Spinal neurofibromas are benign nerve sheath tumors that develop in the spinal nerves. They are often associated with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerve tissue. These tumors can cause pain, neurological symptoms, and spinal deformities as they compress the spinal cord and surrounding structures.
