Small Bowel Neuroendocrine Tumors

Definition

Small bowel neuroendocrine tumors are a rare type of cancer that develops in the neuroendocrine cells of the small intestine. These cells produce hormones that help regulate various bodily functions. The tumors can be benign or malignant and may cause symptoms by releasing excessive amounts of hormones or by growing and compressing surrounding structures.
