Sebaceous Cyst

Definition

A sebaceous cyst is a noncancerous, closed sac-like growth beneath the skin that contains a thick, yellowish substance called keratin. It forms when a sebaceous gland or hair follicle becomes blocked or damaged, leading to the accumulation of keratin. Sebaceous cysts are typically harmless and can occur anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the face, neck, and trunk.
