A rotator cuff tear is a condition in which one or more of the tendons that make up the rotator cuff in the shoulder are damaged or torn. This can result from acute injury, degeneration, or repetitive stress on the shoulder joint. A rotator cuff tear can cause pain, weakness, and limited range of motion in the affected shoulder.
