Ramsay Hunt syndrome, also known as herpes zoster oticus, is a rare neurological disorder caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, which is responsible for chickenpox. The condition affects the facial nerve and can lead to facial paralysis, hearing loss, and a painful rash in and around the ear.
