Proteinuria (protein in urine)

Definition

Proteinuria is a condition characterized by the presence of an abnormal amount of protein in the urine. It may result from dehydration or intense exercise. It may also be an indicator of kidney dysfunction, as healthy kidneys typically prevent large molecules like proteins from passing into the urine. Proteinuria can be caused by various factors, including kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension, or other medical conditions.
