Pancreas-After-Kidney Transplant

Definition

Pancreas-after-kidney (PAK) transplant is a medical procedure in which a pancreas transplant is performed after a successful kidney transplant. This procedure is typically done for patients with type 1 diabetes who have already received a kidney transplant, aiming to improve their quality of life by achieving better blood sugar control and reducing or eliminating the need for insulin therapy.
