Optic Nerve Hypoplasia

Definition

Optic nerve hypoplasia is a congenital condition characterized by the underdevelopment of the optic nerve, which is responsible for transmitting visual information from the retina to the brain. This condition can result in reduced visual acuity, nystagmus (repetitive, uncontrolled eye movements), and strabismus (eye-crossing), and may be associated with other neurological or endocrine abnormalities.
