Mesenteric Ischemia

Definition

Mesenteric ischemia is a medical condition characterized by inadequate blood flow to the mesentery, the tissue that connects and supports the intestines. This reduced blood flow can lead to insufficient oxygen supply to the intestinal tissues, causing inflammation, injury, and potentially tissue death. Mesenteric ischemia can be acute or chronic and may result from various causes, such as arterial blockage, blood clots, or low blood pressure.
