Definition

Gastrointestinal submucosal tumors are a group of benign or malignant growths that originate in the submucosal layer of the gastrointestinal tract. These tumors can occur anywhere along the tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon. They may be asymptomatic or cause various symptoms depending on their size, location, and type.
