Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries (CCTGA)

Definition

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (CCTGA) is a rare congenital heart defect in which the heart's two main arteries, the pulmonary artery and the aorta, are switched in position, and the ventricles are also reversed. This results in a unique circulation pattern where oxygen-poor blood is forcefully pumped to the lungs and oxygen-rich blood is weakly pumped to the body, effectively "correcting" the transposition.
