Colonic Polyps

Definition

Colonic polyps are small growths that develop on the inner lining of the colon, part of the large intestine. They are usually benign, but some can develop into cancer over time. Most colonic polyps do not cause symptoms. However, in rare cases, they can cause symptoms such as rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, or changes in bowel habits.
