Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) Repair

Definition

Atrial septal defect (ASD) repair is a medical procedure performed to correct a congenital heart defect known as an atrial septal defect, which is characterized by an abnormal opening in the wall (septum) that separates the upper chambers (atria) of the heart. The repair can be done through surgical closure or by using a cardiac catheterization technique with a device to close the defect.
