Acute Liver Failure

Definition

Acute liver failure is a serious medical condition characterized by a sudden loss of liver function. It can be caused by a variety of factors, such as viral hepatitis, drug toxicity, or other medical conditions. The symptoms of acute liver failure include jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), abdominal pain, and a change in mental status. If left untreated, acute liver failure can lead to coma and death.
