Type 1 Diabetes: How a Young Woman's Aunt Saved Her Life

After decades of struggling with type 1 diabetes, Jennifer Ridder’s kidneys were failing. On the brink of dialysis, her Aunt Mary offered to be a living organ donor.

Wanting the best care, they approached Yale New Haven Transplantation Center, New England’s leading center for organ transplantation. The center is lead by Yale Medicine's acclaimed surgeon David Mulligan, MD, who has performed over 2000 successful solid organ transplants.

This short documentary follows Jennifer and Mary’s journey. Yale Medicine will likely continue to care for Mary and Jennifer for the rest of their lives.
