Lizzie Hartong Is Back in the Saddle Again After Reconstructive Surgery

Over two years ago Lizzie Hartong, an active 16 year old, was thrown from a horse and suffered multiple fractures to her pelvis. Appreciating the potentially devastating effects of such an injury, the doctors at her local hospital immediately transferred Lizzie to Yale New Haven Hospital's Level One Trauma Unit, where a dedicated team of orthopaedic trauma reconstruction experts were ready to care for her.

Yale Medicine's Michael Leslie, DO, FAOA, and his team successfully reconstructed Hartong's pelvis and returned her to her full activities within months of her accident. This short documentary video tells her story.
