Yale Medicine’s approach to childbirth combines centuries-old traditions with the most advanced medical practice. In this video, Jessica Illuzzi, MD, explains how her team works closely with each mom to create a personalized, safe birthing experience.
"A vaginal delivery after cesarean can actually be safe and may even prevent future pregnancy complications. Here at Yale, we really try hard to make sure that women know this is an option for them and to support them in that option," says Dr. Illuzzi, an associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive sciences at Yale School of Medicine. "I really believe that we can make the hospital setting a place where women can come and know that we respect their decisions so they can achieve the experience that they desire."
