Biography

Dr Roberts has directed adult sickle cell programs at two large academic medical centers. He was a co-investigator in the landmark Pain in Sickle Cell Epidemiology Study that demonstrated that chronic pain is common in adults living with sickle cell disease and promoted changes in the management of sickle cell pain throughout the nation. His current work focuses upon improving delivery of care for adults living with sickle cell disease. Previously, Dr Roberts worked as a cancer clinical investigator. In 2012 he received the Principal Investigator of the Year (Harry Hines Award) from the Community Clinical Oncology Program of the National Cancer Institute.
